Undertaking the Shire's largest and most significant project in history is not without its challenges. The Shire of Coolgardie's Kambalda Community and Recreation Facility (KC&RF) is now a reality.
For the Shire to manage such a project with a relatively small team is in itself, a big ask. For the Councillors to support such a large undertaking has also required strength and confidence. Much has now been achieved in translating a vision for the renewal of community and sporting infrastructure in Kambalda, into a sustainable project that will have a positive influence on the lives of the current Kambalda community, as well as those who will live and work in Kambalda in the future.

Our goal of creating a multi purpose community facility which was modern, functional and efficient complex designed to be a colourful multi-use facility to cater for wide range of activities has been realised. The construction of the new Kambalda Community and Recreation Facility was completed on schedule in November 2008. Thanks all residents and local community members for their patience and cooperation during construction phase of this project.
The 24 hour gymnasium is now open to the public. Memberships are available from the Shire Office. For further information click on the link below.

Since the conception of this project, Council has remained steadfast in its position that all of its infrastructure will be built and maintained to the highest possible standards. After all, you only get one opportunity to develop infrastructure of this magnitude. A strong emphasis on landscape (which will form a part of the stage two works) and an unwavering intent to deliver outstanding design and construction will see the KC&RF age well.
One significant change to the plans for the KC&RC has been the inclusion of an area suitable for a 50 place licensed Day Care Centre. The Shire was approached by mining companies who have identified the need for more long-day child care places. In turn, the Shire is seeking support for the additional expenses required in order to build and equip this new addition to our great facility.
The tremendous support of the government and corporate sectors has been integral to the success of this project. Your support for the Kambalda Community and Recreation Centre has shown that together we can make a difference; that we can create a New Heart for a New Kambalda. We have been delighted to hear the positive feedback from both the local and wider community. We look forward to watching the new facility grow up over the coming years as its garden grows and our stage two works are completed. We look forward to staying in touch and if there is ever anything you would like to know more about this great project, please do not hesitate to call the Shire office on (08) 9080 2111 and speak to Tony Nottle - Chief Executive Officer or Jill O’Brien - Manager Kambalda Community and Recreation Facility.
Here's to a Generous Kambalda!
